The impact of COVID-19 on the cash flow of MSME restaurants: The case of Cancún, Quintana Roo, Mexico.

Resumen

El objetivo de la investigación fue evaluar el impacto del COVID-19 en la liquidez de las mipymes del sector restaurantero ubicadas en el primer cuadro de la ciudad de Cancún, clasificándolas según su tamaño. El enfoque del estudio fue cuantitativo, de alcance descriptivo y correlacional con diseño no experimental de tipo transeccional. La muestra se integró por 260 directivos. Los datos se recolectaron de marzo a abril de 2021 mediante un cuestionario. La prueba ácida reportó que sólo 6.5 % de empresas tuvieron problemas de liquidez. Se concluye que existe una relación negativa baja entre la liquidez de las mipymes y su tamaño durante la pandemia.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to evaluate the impact of COVID-19 on the cash flow of the MSME restaurant sector located in the central area of the city of Cancún. These restaurants were classified by their size. The study’s approach was quantitative, with a descriptive and correlational scope, using a non-experimental cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 260 directors. With the use of a questionnaire, data were collected from March through April 2021. The acid test reported that only 6.5% of the companies had cash flow issues. It is concluded that there is a low negative relationship between MSMEs and their size during the pandemic.
