Abstract
The objective of this research is to estimate the differences in sales levels among businesses operated by people self-determined as Indigenous People (IP) and those who do not (non Indigenous People, NIP), controlling for the sector in which they operate, the business and the owner’s educational level. To do so, a variance analysis (ANOVA) will be employed to compare the means among the groups analyzed and the openly significant differences of Tukey Test (HSD), to determine the magnitude and direction these differences have. The outcomes reveal that businesses headed by Indigenous People account for 26% sales below the overall average. If they were to be controlled by the economic sector in which they operate and the entrepreneurs’ educational level, this outcome is sustained.
