Abstract

The objective is to identify if the characteristics of the director and his managerial behavior are related to the time of permanence in the market of the MSEs (micro and small size enterprises) of Mineral de la Reforma. With a quantitative-correlational-transectional approach, a combined questionnaire with a 5-point Likert scale, which is part of the data collection instruments designed for the RELAYN research 2023 (Peña and Aguilar, 2023), was randomly applied to 871 directors of SME in Mineral de la Reforma. A multivariate regression was performed to detect the relations
hip of the factor’s (X1), managerial behavior, (X2) level of education, (X3) family responsibility and (X4) age, with the variable (Y) of company life time. The results indicate that this relationship as a whole is weak; although the variables age and level of education influence but in a limited way. In conclusion, the implicit complexity for the permanence of a company in the market and the need to address multiple other non-controllable factors is evident. The insufficiency of the theory on strategic management requires further exploration of the director's profile as a factor in the competitiveness of his company.
