The objective of this research was to diagnose the entrepreneurial and social-organizational capacity of coffee producers which are members of cooperatives in the state of Veracruz. The investigation followed a mixed-method approach and used data collected through a questionnaire consisting of 105 questions based on the following forms of capital: social, human, economic, commercial, physical and natural. Participant observation was also employed as a supplementary technique. The diagnose indicates that coffee cooperatives lack competitive entrepreneurial capacity which hinders them to take advantage of favorable scenarios that the coffee sector presents.
