Impact of ICT on the productivity of small and medium-sized enterprises in Benito Juarez, Quintana Roo

Abstract

El objetivo general de la presente investigación, fue identificar la situación actual de las micros y pequeñas empresas del Municipio de Benito Juárez, Quintana Roo, en relación al empleo de las Tecnología de la Información y Comunicación (TIC) en sus procesos productivos. El enfoque del estudio fue cuantitativo y el alcance de la investigación fue descriptivo y correlacional con diseño no experimental de tipo transeccional. La muestra no probabilística se integró de 421 directivos de MyPES que contaban con al menos un trabajador y un máximo de 50. Entre los resultados más sobresalientes se encontró que las MyPES emplean como herramienta principal la Internet en sus actividades y las variables que están asociadas con el uso de las TIC son: el tamaño, el género, el nivel de estudios de los directivos, el sector económico al que pertenecen y su constitución legal. Se comprueba que a mayor uso de TIC mayor productividad de los empleados en las MyPES.

Abstract
The general objective of the present research was to identify the current situation of Micro and Small Businesses (MSB’s) in the Municipality of Benito Juárez, Quintana Roo, related to the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Systems in their productive processes. The approach of this research was quantitative and its scope was descriptive and correlational with nonexperimental design of cross-sectional type. The non-probabilistic sample contemplated a total of 421 MSB’s executives who had at least one worker and a maximum of 50 employees. Among the most outstanding results, it was found that the MSB’s use Internet as its main tool on its activities and the variables that are associated with their operation in the uses of ICT are: size, gender, the level of education of managers, the economic sector to which they belong and their legal constitution. It is found that the more ICT Systems are used by enterprises, the greater productivity the MSB’s will have.
