Abstract

During a discussion forum online, each of the 31 participants shared a piece of news and augmented the reasons why they considered it fake news, biased or exaggerated. With the application of content analysis, it became apparent that participants were able to include in their arguments elements related to the structure of the news item, authorship and the sources that support the information. This allowed a more in depth understanding of the main psychological variables that could influence a person's acceptance and dissemination of fake news.
